The Cherry Orchard nursery near Southend on Sea uses a Dragon heater with the new automatic loader. Below are some photographs and examples of the heater in use.

Dragon have developed a unique revolving hearth to burn woodchip, sawdust and shredded biomass waste. In a conventional fire, clinkering would occur and make it difficult to keep burning.

The illustrated model is producing over 200Kw per hour. Obviously it could be used on any project requiring low cost heat.

To produce 200Kw the hopper is loaded once per day with about a tonne of woodchip (about 5 cubic metres), which is reduced to 200 litres of potash fertiliser.

The fuel illustrated is shredded pallets with magnets used to remove the nails.

Other fuels include sawdust and sander dust, woodchip, grain and chaff, and work is currently being carried out on poultry manure.

A specially designed baffled hopper eliminates clogging.
