The energy from wood varies from species to species. Dry hardwood is almost as good as coal, whereas softwood is similar to straw. Of more significance is moisture content, the drier the fuel the more energy is available for your application. One tonne of wood with 20% moisture content will yield at least 4500 Kw of energy, equivalent to 450 litres of fuel oil.

If oil costs 30p per litre, then the tonne of wood will save £90.

On top of this are the disposal costs, landfill tax, carbon levy, skip hire and haulage costs which can add up to £50 per tonne.

Therefore for every tonne of waste you burn, you can save £140. A Dragon can recover your investment 10 times faster than wind or solar power!
