Carbon Levy
The Carbon levy is legislation on the use of and disposal of carbon related products which might impact the environment. Carbon from biomass waste is considered to be only releasing carbon previously absorbed by the growing crop and is not adding to the CO2 problem.

Landfill
To reduce landfill the government has introduced a charge of £30 per tonne on waste disposal, and has promised to increase this charge annually. When you burn your waste you avoid paying this tax and also avoid paying for skip hire, haulage and emptying charges.

Emission legislation
Below 0.3Megawatts - no legislation applies, most Dragon heaters fall into this category.

From 0.3Mw to 4Mw Smoke emission legislation (PG12) applies, this states that smoke shall not be a nuisance.

Over 4Mw Monitoring facilities must be available and beyond that, permanent monitoring must be in place.
